Michael-Patrick Timothy Harrington was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and now lives in the suburb of Ambler. His childhood was fraught with terror, being forced to stay outside by his mother ("sun's out, you're out"), made to stay up way past bedtime by his grandmother Ro-Ro, and told to "eat it or wear it" by Aunt El. Michael's mother lessened the blows by buying him his first 45s; he still has every single one of them.

He wrote his first short story in 2nd grade, punched his sister Kathie in 3rd grade, grew peach fuzz on his upper lip in 5th grade, kissed a girl in 10th grade, but never broke any bones. In grade school, Michael was hijacked by Tolkien and Twain and the Beatles and Hitchcock; he never recovered.

After surviving Holy Ghost Preparatory School, Michael attended La Salle University. In college and various psychiatric facilities, he was confronted by Hemingway and Fitzgerald and Faulkner; he narrowly escaped with his life. It was around this time that the opposite sex became a conundrum; the problem persists today.

Since college, he has worked a series of odd jobs, including owning his own record store, selling bootlegs, and playing guitar in the rock'n'roll band Lola and the Shivers. The author can frequently be found eating popcorn in a dark movie theater. Michael is a vegetarian and enjoys the color green. Deep Autumn is Michael's first book. Everything in it is false with a ring of truth. He's not in love. All interested parties should contact him immediately.

Michael is survived by his stuffed dog Woofer.

Other things to know and memorize; points of possible interest:

  1. I See No Angels is Michael's second book.

  2. Deep Autumn was the first.

  3. The author's full name is Michael-Patrick Timothy Harrington.

  4. Michael was raised Roman Catholic, which was a mouthful.

  5. Michael has nothing against religion, per se, just against absolute doctrines of faith. They give him the shivers.

  6. Michael believes rock'n'roll may be the only true religion — just with worse clothes and better wine.

  7. Seven is Michael's favorite number. He doesn't have a clue why, nor does he comprehend any special significance in the number.

  8. The author lives with his dog Raven in Ambler, Pennsylvania. He really likes the town.

  9. Michael has multiple sclerosis, and although the disease has enabled Michael to comprehend the very color of the sky and the leaves and the sound of Chuck Berry's guitar and the way a good book smells, he's really not happy about the whole thing.

  10. Michael was raised in large part by very strong women: his mom (hi Ma!), his sister Kathie, and his grandmother Ro-Ro. Ro-Ro taught him many things, including, but not limited to: blackjack, poker, how to watch movies, and how to live your life so that someday people will write a book about you.
